Mercyful Fate 1982 - 1984: EP, Melissa, Don't Break the Oath

Hell yeah, Mercyful Fate. Pure head banging heavy metal. The EP & Melissa are the best, but at the same time I can't deny Don't Break the Oath.

Solstice - New Dark Age 1998

Solstice are from the UK, and besides Candlemass, they're probably one of the first doom metal bands that I started listening to that really kickstarted my appreciation for the genre. Nice traditional doom metal.

Celestial Season - Solar Lovers 1995

Celestial Season is from the Netherlands and actually have quite a few CDs, but I probably like this one the best. Nice heavy deathdoom thats more heavy on the doom than death.

Cauteror - They Fell... 1993

Damn, this demo is good. Really awesome oldschool deathdoom from the Netherlands.

P.S. if anyone has Cauteror's first 1991 demo "to atonement i am owed" i would really like to get a copy of it, digital or otherwise.

Mourning Beloveth - Sullen Sulcus 2002

Lately I've been getting into a lot more of the straight forward doomy deathdoom bands. This another recent find, and probably the first Irish doom band I've listened to. Sounds like really heavy doom metal with death metal vocals. Definitely check em out.

Old Man's Child - Born of the Flickering 1995

It's pretty few and far between but sometimes I like to listen to black metal. This Old Man's Child album is pretty damn good.

Doom:VS

Doom:VS are a really awesome funeral doom band I just found out about and am pretty stoked on. Fair warning this is pretty slow and atmospheric compared to the rest of what I post on here. But rest assured, both these albums are full of doom and good tunes.

Slugathor - Echoes From Beneath 2009

I was talkin to someone about the Finnish band Slugathor and we both agreed the 2009 album is the best work these guys have put out so far. That's not to say their previous two full lengths weren't good, but Slugathor really steps it up on this album. Solid crushing deathdoom.

Mar de Grises - Draining the Waterheart 2008

Mar de Grises are a great Chilean deathdoom band that have three full lengths out right now. These guys do an awesome job of blending death with lots of doom influence, both heavy and symphonic at times. Draining the Waterheart is easily my favorite release from these guys.
